Summers at Faith

School’s out!  Summers are a great time of year to have a change of pace, and here at Faith we like to add some variety with a special adult Sunday school series and Wednesday night activities.  This summer we will be having a combined adult Sunday school class that gives our church family a relaxed atmosphere in which to connect with fellow members who don’t typically attend their class.  On Wednesday nights we have a delicious summer meal (served from 5:30 – 6:15: $4 for adults and $3 for children) followed by a practical life Bible study and SummerKids (age 3 – 6th grade) at 6:45 pm.  Vacation Bible school and camp are summer favorites as well!

Cross Impact

College Bible Study – UWF (September – May)

College is a whole new stage of life.  It’s a time of questions and choices – “What major should I choose?”  “Should I live on campus or off?”  “Should I go to church?  Where?”  “Is this the person I want to date?”  “Can I trust the Bible?”  These questions need guidance.  At Cross Impact we explore God’s Word to get “Life Changing Direction”.   Bring your friends and join us weekly throughout the school year on the campus of the University of West Florida for a time to get to know God, His will for our lives, and how to share our faith with others.  Whether it be a waffle party, bonfire, or volleyball, we also have some great fun along the way.  Bible Study Leader: Pastor Wooten  jwooten@fbcpensacola.org

Enjoy God – Enjoy Life!  We retired and semi-retired senior adults do both as we spend time together having fun, praying, discussing life issues, and learning about God and missions.  We would love to have you join us the first Friday of every month at 10:00 a.m.  Coordinator: Mike Crounse primetimers@fbcpensacola.org

Ladies’ Book Study

Each year, beginning in January, those ladies of Faith who are interested collectively read through an encouraging book by a trusted author.  Every other Tuesday or Thursday morning ladies of all ages gather for an hour and a half to discuss insights and lessons learned from the reading.  There is an emphasis on spiritual and practical application, good discussion, and sweet fellowship as answers to the chapter questions are shared among the group.   These study times have proven to be greatly beneficial to all who attend, and usually last anywhere from 6-12 weeks.

Membership Process

When God saves a person who has called upon Christ by faith to pardon their sins, He also makes them His child and a part of His family.  In one sense all believers in Jesus are part of the church – members of the body and bride of Christ, but that doesn’t mean that people half a world away are members of Faith Baptist Church.  In the New Testament, the word “church” describes a group of Christian believers from a single geographic location who gather together to worship God, proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, and care for one another.  It is in these local churches that the life of the church is lived out – through preaching, teaching, giving, caring, singing, etc…  It is to the local church that God gave Pastors and Deacons and it is here that spiritual gifts are to be exercised.  Each church is like a family and has its own history, personality, and culture.  When you join Faith Baptist Church we want you to be thoroughly familiar with who we are, what we believe, expectations, and commitments.  We recommend that you attend the New Beginnings class.  Members must be saved, baptized, and in agreement with the church covenant and bylaws.  After meeting with a Pastor, you will be invited to come forward at the end of a church service as a sign of your intent and desire to join the church, to be received into membership, and to be welcomed by the church family.

Salvation by Faith in Jesus Christ

All members of Faith Baptist Church must be born again believers in Jesus Christ.  You cannot be a part of a local church if you are not first part of the family of God and body of Christ.  If you’re not sure what it means to believe on Jesus, please see the “believe” portion of our website, and contact us – we’re here to help!

Baptism

Baptism by immersion (to be dunked under water) is the public sign that you have received and believed the gospel of Jesus Christ.  It pictures His death (placed into the water), burial in the grave (under the water’s surface), and resurrection (rising back out of the water).  Baptism not only pictures what Jesus has done for us; but it also pictures what God has done in us through making us His children.  It shows our death to trusting in false hopes for life and happiness; and the new life we have in Christ (Romans 6:3-10).

Baptism is the way you let the world know that you have trusted Christ as your Savior and you are one of His followers.  It doesn’t make sense to publically join yourself to Christ’s church, if you haven’t first publically owned Him as your Savior.  Individuals must be baptized by immersion as a testimony of their faith in Jesus prior to being admitted to the membership of Faith Baptist Church.  If you have trusted Christ as your Savior and have never been scripturally baptized, please contact us to discuss this important step of commitment and obedience.

Church Covenant and Articles of Faith

Membership has privileges such as voting and opportunities for service and leadership, but it also has responsibilities and commitments.  As a church family we make promises to care for one another and to seek after God.  Our core Bible beliefs, while not all inclusive, identify key truths that we believe express our understanding of God, His ordering of time and creation, and our right responses to Him.  We ask all church members to commit to the church covenant and subscribe to the Articles of Faith.  If you are interested in becoming a member of Faith Baptist, please download and review the Church Covenant and Articles of Faith.  Once you have read these documents, please schedule an appointment with one of the pastors to discuss membership and any questions you might have.
